My Clinical Research

PURINERGIC ACTIVITY IN BLADDERS

Part of my research has involved a study of the purinergic activity in normal and functionally abnormal human bladders. This includes overactive and painful bladders, as well as Interstitial Cystitis. My techniques included:

- ATP release from the urothelium following electric and mechanical stimulation which was assessed using a luciferase assay. This also included the estimation of neuronal and non-neuronal release of ATP.

- The role of ecto-ATPases in functionally abnormal bladders.

- The distribution of P2X1-3 (Purinergic) receptor iso-forms by using immunohistochemical techniques. This allowed the characterisation of the expression of P2X homo-multimer and hetero-multimer receptor proteins in bladders.

I am extremely passionate about my research, and am always happy to answer any questions you may have. Alternatively, your query may have been answered in my FAQs.

RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS

My work was completed in the Autonomic Neuroscience Centre at the Royal Free and University College Medical School, based in London. This is an excellent school which allowed me to complete successful and comprehensive research, as outlined above. This research has enhanced and improved my services, and has also fuelled my passion for the field.

I have also completed several publications in some of the industry's major journals. These include Journal of Urology, European Urology, BJU International, Current Opinions and Neurourology and Urodynamics. I have also presented these papers in several international conferences, including AUA, BAUS, ICS, SUI and EAU. For more information, don't hesitate to email me.
